Diwali Blues for Restaurants: Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Jump by Rs 101.50

Pune, November 1, 2023: Just days before Diwali, the cost of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders has taken a sharp upward turn, leaving commercial establishments and the restaurant industry grappling with an unexpected price hike of Rs 101.50. This increase in the cost of commercial cylinders has raised concerns, particularly within the food and hospitality sectors.

According to information from the Press Trust of India (PTI), the prices of commercial LPG cylinders have been adjusted upwards by Rs 101.50 across the country, effective immediately. As a result, a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder in Mumbai will now be priced at Rs 1,785.50, the most affordable among the four major metropolitan areas. In contrast, the highest price will be in Chennai at Rs 1,999.50, followed by Rs 1,833 in Delhi and Rs 1,943 in Kolkata.

The state-run oil marketing giants, including the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, have instituted this price hike for 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders in the four major cities, commencing from November 1, 2023.

This marks the second consecutive month of price hikes for commercial LPG cylinders, with the last increase amounting to Rs 209. However, there has been no corresponding change in domestic LPG prices as of November 1.
