Street Vendor Saga : ‘Paiso ka khel hai’: Delhi’s Vada Pav Girl Exposes Systemic Challenges

Customers are seen encouraging her to continue her work. She sobs while serving vada pav to the customers. “Sab paiso ka khel hai (It’s all a game of money),” she said.

In another video, Chandrika is heard saying, “Power ka khel bhi dekh rahi hu (I am seeing the game of power),” Chandrika said. She added, “Cart nahi lagane di jaa rahi hai. Cart utha li jaa rahi hai. Muh tod paisa maang rahe hain. (They are not letting me put up my cart. They tow my cart. They are asking for huge sum of money.)”

She said that everyone is demanding money. When asked how much money is being asked, she claimed, “One-time payment of Rs 35,000 and Rs 15,000 every month.”

Chandrika added, “Rs 300 crore ki kothi chaap lungi kya Rs 40 ka vada pav se? (Can I get a Rs 300 crore bungalow by selling vada pav for Rs 40?

Chandrika said that she requested the police to let her place her cart as she doesn’t have any other option. She further alleged that balloons were thrown where the vada pav are cooked.
