In a startling incident, a woman identified as Jhansi Rani Samuel from Andhra Pradesh was apprehended for an alleged fraud amounting to nearly ₹6 lakh at a high-end hotel in Delhi’s Aerocity. Surprisingly, subsequent investigations brought to light that the accused possessed a mere ₹41 in her bank account at the time of her arrest.
During her 15-day stay at the Pullman Hotel in Aerocity, Jhansi Rani Samuel allegedly engaged in fraudulent transactions, accumulating charges totaling ₹5,88,176. The woman reportedly used a falsified identity card, presenting herself as Isha Dave, to access spa services valued at ₹2,11,708.
Although the accused claimed to be making payments through the ICICI Bank UPI app, a reconciliation revealed that the bank had not received any payments. Authorities suspect the involvement of a dubious payment app in the fraudulent activities.
Despite initially claiming to be a doctor, Jhansi Rani Samuel’s background and motives for staying near the airport remain unclear. Delhi police have sought assistance from Andhra Pradesh police to obtain accurate details about her actual address and family.
The accused provided conflicting information during interrogation, stating she was a doctor and her husband resided in New York. The veracity of this information is yet to be confirmed. Initially charged with cheating, additional charges under sections 419, 468, and 471 of the IPC (Impersonation, Forgery, and Use of Forged Documents) have been added to the FIR.
