Farewell to Toll: Haryana’s Commuter-Friendly Decision to Close 7 Plazas

In a major relief for commuters, the Haryana government has announced the closure of seven toll plazas across the state, along with an additional one, operated by the Public Works Department (PWD). Chief Minister Manohar Lal revealed this decision during a press conference, emphasizing the government’s commitment to providing relief to the people of Haryana.

Toll Plazas Set for Closure:

  1. Kurukshetra Toll Plaza (NH-19): The toll plaza on the Pehowa-Patiala Punjab border is among the first to be closed.
  2. Saundh Toll Plaza (Hodal-Nuh-Pataudi Road): This toll plaza, obstructing the Hodal-Nuh-Pataudi Road, will soon be history.
  3. Three Toll Plazas on Chharauda and Pathredi Roads: Situated on Chharauda and Pathredi roads, these three plazas are set to be part of Haryana’s toll history.
  4. Sunehra Toll Plaza (Nuh-Jhurheda Road): The days of this toll plaza are numbered, ensuring a smooth ride ahead.
  5. Badotia and Bamanwali Toll Plazas (Rai-Nahar-Bahadurgarh Road): These plazas on the Rai-Nahar-Bahadurgarh Road will soon be a thing of the past.
  6. Bandhwadi Toll Plaza (Faridabad-Ballabhgarh-Sohna Road): Residents of Faridabad can celebrate as this toll plaza’s gates will soon be closed for good.
  7. Alihpur Tigada and Bivan Toll Plazas (Firozpur Jhirka-Biwani Road): Toll collection at these plazas will cease, offering a smoother commute.

Closure Timeline:

While most toll plazas are expected to shut down by early 2024, the closure of some may take longer, depending on existing contracts. Toll plazas operated by the PWD will have their contracts terminated after January 2024. Those with contracts expiring in 2024 or at the year-end will be closed accordingly.

Notably, the fate of the Khedki Daula Toll Plaza remains uncertain, with no mention during the press conference. Residents eagerly await its removal, following a promise made by the Chief Minister in February 2021.

Haryana commuters can now breathe a sigh of relief as these toll plazas become history, potentially saving them a significant ₹22.48 crore in annual taxes.

Stay tuned for updates on when these toll plazas will officially bid farewell to the roads of Haryana!
