XL Axiata Drives 4G Network Expansion in East Nusa Tenggara

Indonesian mobile telecommunications services provider, XL Axiata (PT XL Axiata Tbk), is actively expanding its 4G network coverage to areas that were previously underserved, aligning with the government’s commitment to accelerating national development through digital infrastructure. XL Axiata recently announced the extension of its 4G LTE Network footprint to include Alor Island, located in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Expansion of 4G Network to Alor Island

Over the past year, XL Axiata has been intensively building a 4G network in the Province of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). During this period, the company added more than 120 4G BTS (Base Transceiver Stations) to remote rural areas and small islands that were previously unreachable. Alor Island is one of the previously underserved islands that now enjoys connectivity through this expansion effort.

As of now, the XL Axiata 4G Network in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) encompasses over 850 4G BTS units across approximately 188 sub-districts in 22 cities/regencies. This expansion provides coverage to around 60 percent of the population in the region, significantly enhancing their access to high-speed mobile data services.

XL Axiata e-SIM Service

In addition to network expansion, XL Axiata introduced an electronic SIM card or e-SIM service a few months ago. This service allows customers to transition to e-SIM without the need for physical SIM card purchases at stores, streamlining the activation process. Last week, the company announced that all XL Centers across Sumatra are now equipped to facilitate the seamless transition from physical SIM cards to e-SIM for the convenience of its customers.

New Medan XL Center

Furthermore, XL Axiata recently inaugurated a new XL Center in Medan to address the growing demand and enhance customer support in the region. The company stated, “Considering the high demand for customers and to facilitate customers in Medan and North Sumatra, XL Axiata has inaugurated a second XL Center at Plaza Medan Fair.”

With this latest addition, XL Axiata now boasts a total of 17 XL Centers strategically located across Sumatra, including cities like Banda Aceh, Pekanbaru, Palembang, and Bandar Lampung, further bolstering its commitment to delivering top-quality services to customers across the region.
