UGC NET June 2024 Registration: All You Need to Know

Key Information, Eligibility Criteria, and Admission Impact for PhD Programs

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is gearing up to commence the registration process for UGC NET June 2024 next week, coinciding with the release of the information bulletin. UGC NET 2024 aims to assess candidates for the ‘Junior Research Fellowship’ and eligibility for ‘Assistant Professor’ roles across 83 subjects in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.

Aspiring candidates are encouraged to stay updated with the official website of NTA for application dates, as the exact schedule is yet to be announced.

Eligibility Criteria for UGC – NET June 2024:

Candidates must fulfill the following criteria to be eligible for UGC NET June 2024:

  1. Qualifying Examination:
    • General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates: A minimum of 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from UGC-recognized universities/institutions.
    • Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to Non-Creamy Layer/Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disability (PwD)/Third gender category candidates: A minimum of 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination.
    • Candidates with post-graduate diploma/certificate from an Indian University/Institute or foreign degree/diploma/certificate: Must ensure equivalence with a Master’s degree from recognized Indian universities as per the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

Candidates are urged to follow the instructions provided in the Information Bulletin available on the NTA website.

UGC NET 2024 Registration: NTA NET Application Fee:

  • General/Unreserved category: Rs 1150
  • General-EWS/OBC-NCL candidates: Rs 600
  • SC/ST/PwD and Third Gender candidates: Rs 325

The entire application process for UGC NET 2024 will be online, including document uploads, fee payment, and confirmation page printing.

Moreover, according to the University Grants Commission, NET scores will now be utilized for PhD admissions starting from the academic session 2024-25, streamlining the admission process for aspiring doctoral candidates. The UGC NET result will be declared in percentile along with the marks obtained by candidates, with eligibility categories outlined for PhD program admissions.

Candidates qualifying in categories 2 and 3 will undergo evaluation based on test scores and interviews, with NET marks validity extending for one year for PhD program admissions.

This initiative represents a significant stride towards enhancing accessibility and efficiency in the PhD admission process, benefiting both aspiring scholars and academic institutions.
