Ubisoft, the renowned video game developer behind blockbuster titles like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry, celebrates its 15th anniversary in Singapore with a strategic move that strengthens its foothold in South-east Asia and India. The company unveiled a brand-new 5,000 square metre studio at Fusionopolis in Singapore and announced the formation of a regional network spanning five studios, a move signaling its commitment to deeper engagement in this dynamic part of the world.

Ubisoft’s Expansive Regional Network:

Ubisoft Singapore, Ubisoft Manila (Philippines), Ubisoft Da Nang (Vietnam), and Ubisoft’s two Indian studios in Pune and Mumbai together form a robust regional network aimed at tapping into the promising potential of South-east Asia and India in the gaming industry.

Leadership Transition and Strategic Vision:

Come January 1, 2024, Jean-Francois Vallee will take the helm as the managing director of Ubisoft’s operations in Singapore, the Philippines, and Da Nang. With an illustrious history at Ubisoft since 1997 and significant contributions to the establishment of Ubisoft Chengdu, Vallee brings extensive experience and strategic insight to steer Ubisoft’s regional network from the Singapore studio.

Industry Insights:

Speaking on the industry’s growth, Darryl Long, current managing director, emphasized the gaming sector’s substantial impact, exceeding a market size of over US$200 billion. “The global video game industry is not a niche one anymore,” Long remarked, “for the market size is over US$200 billion – even more than the film industry.”
