Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi Takes a Spin on Uber Shuttle During Bengaluru Visit

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi embarked on a unique journey during his recent visit to Bengaluru, opting for a ride on Uber Shuttle on February 22. The tech executive experienced the rideshare service alongside members of the Uber India team, showcasing his commitment to understanding and integrating with local commuting solutions.

The Uber CEO’s day in Bengaluru kicked off with a fireside chat with Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani. During the conversation, Khosrowshahi discussed the challenges of operating in the Indian market, stating, “India is one of the toughest markets out there; they are so demanding and do not pay for anything. If we can succeed here, we can succeed anywhere else.”

Following the chat, Khosrowshahi shared glimpses of his Uber Shuttle ride on the microblogging platform. “Excited to check out the Uber Shuttle bus at our Bangalore office along with the hugely talented team behind it. Cars, bikes, autos, and buses – Uber in India is a one-stop mobility hub,” he expressed.

About Uber Shuttle:

Uber Shuttle, introduced in 2021, is a rideshare option offering customers the ability to book a seat on air-conditioned buses operating along pre-fixed routes. This service allows users to reserve their seats up to a week in advance, providing a convenient and reliable commuting option. Presently available in select cities including Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, Uber Shuttle aims to provide a safe and comfortable daily commute for office-goers.

Future Ventures in India:

Uber is actively exploring new offerings in the Indian market, including intercity bus services and metro rail ticket bookings. The company is collaborating with the government-backed Open Network For Digital Commerce (ONDC) to broaden its range of services. This partnership could potentially help Uber attract more users, enhance its competitiveness against local rivals, and contribute to boosting public transport utilization in the densely populated country.
