Tusass Expands 5G Fixed Wireless Broadband Services to Three More Greenlandic Cities

Tusass, the leading operator in Greenland, has expanded its 5G Fixed Wireless Broadband (FWA) services to include the cities of Nanortalik, Paamiut, and Qaqortoq. This expansion brings high-speed internet access to residents in these areas, following the initial launch of 5G FWA in November 2022.

Tusass initially introduced its 5G subscriptions with speeds of 80 Mbps for downloads and 20 Mbps for uploads. Now, the company is rolling out five new subscription plans in Nanortalik, Paamiut, and Qaqortoq to provide customers with flexible options.

Customers in these cities can choose from various subscription plans, including:

  1. 40 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload for DKK 899 per month.
  2. 20 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload for DKK 799 per month.
  3. 10 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload for DKK 599 per month.
  4. 5 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload for DKK 499 per month.
  5. 80 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload for DKK 1,099 per month.

Notably, the plans for Nanortalik and Paamiut offer 60 Mbps speeds due to their status as radio chain towns with limited capacity. Tusass has plans to introduce these subscriptions in at least seven more cities in 2023, expanding its 5G FWA services further.

Tusass has been actively modernizing its network infrastructure in collaboration with Ericsson, with a focus on delivering wireless connectivity across Greenland. The partnership began in 2017, initially upgrading the mobile network to provide high-quality 4G services to populated areas in Greenland. Now, Tusass is making the transition from 4G to 5G, aiming to expand coverage and provide faster and more reliable internet access to its customers.

Currently, Tusass reports that 60-70 percent of Qaqortoq city residents have access to 5G connections, with ongoing efforts to increase coverage and bring the benefits of 5G FWA to more communities across Greenland.
