Threads App Surpasses 95 Million Posts and 50 Million Profiles

Meta’s new social media platform, Threads, has gained significant traction since its launch, with over 95 million posts and more than 50 million user profiles already created.

Launched by Meta, the parent company of Instagram and Facebook, Threads aims to provide users with a space to share text updates and engage in public conversations. Within just 24 hours of its release for iOS and Android users in 100 countries, Threads became the top free app on the App Store.

According to internal data obtained by The Verge, users have generated over 95 million threads and given approximately 190 million likes on the platform. The app’s rapid growth is a testament to its appeal and the curiosity of social media enthusiasts.

Threads operates similarly to Instagram, allowing users to follow and connect with friends and creators who share common interests, including individuals they already follow on Instagram. This integration offers a seamless experience for existing Instagram users looking to expand their social connections.

Within the first two hours of its launch, Threads garnered two million sign-ups. This number quickly skyrocketed to 10 million users within seven hours, and an impressive 30 million users in just 12 hours. The rapid adoption of the app reflects the interest and enthusiasm surrounding Meta’s latest offering.

In response to Meta’s foray into the social media space, Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino expressed the importance of the Twitter community staying together. She acknowledged the role of Twitter in facilitating real-time information sharing, diverse opinions, and global conversations. Yaccarino emphasized the irreplaceable nature of the Twitter community, noting that while others may attempt to imitate, they can never duplicate the unique environment fostered by Twitter users.

As Threads continues to gain popularity, it will be interesting to observe how it shapes the social media landscape and how users engage with the platform’s features. Meta’s successful launch and the overwhelmingly positive response to Threads indicate a promising future for the app and its potential impact on the social media industry.
