Tata Group’s Zudio Aims to Open 150-200 Stores in FY25 to Meet Surging Demand

In a strategic move to capitalize on the growing demand for affordable apparel in India, Tata Group’s value fashion brand, Zudio, is gearing up to launch between 150 and 200 new brick-and-mortar stores by the end of the 2025 financial year. Despite the prevailing sales slowdown in the retail sector, Zudio has thrived as shoppers increasingly prioritize budget-friendly options without compromising on style.

Meeting the Budget-Friendly Fashion Trend

Amidst a landscape where consumer preferences are shifting towards affordability, Zudio has positioned itself as a frontrunner by offering a wide array of fashionable yet cost-effective apparel. The brand’s success lies in striking a balance between trend-conscious collections and pocket-friendly prices, aligning with the evolving dynamics of the Indian market.

According to an anonymous source close to the development, Zudio’s expansion plans underscore the brand’s commitment to meeting the demands of young, budget-conscious Indian consumers. The brand’s focus on affordability, coupled with its ability to stay in tune with fashion trends, has contributed to its resilience in a challenging retail environment.

Swift Expansion by Trent Limited

Tata Group’s retail arm, Trent Limited, which oversees Zudio, has witnessed rapid expansion, establishing over 100 exclusive brand outlets for Zudio in the current financial year. The brand’s footprint is set to expand further in the remaining months of the fiscal year, targeting new locations and reaching a broader customer base.

Launched seven years ago, Zudio was introduced to cater specifically to the fashion needs of young Indians seeking value-driven choices. The brand’s product range includes casual wear, party wear, and lounge wear for men, women, and children, along with accessories and lifestyle goods – all priced below Rs 1,000.

Diversified Retail Portfolio of Trent Limited

Apart from Zudio, Trent Limited manages the Westside department store chain, offering a diverse range of apparel and lifestyle products. Additionally, the business has a joint venture with Spain-based apparel giant Inditex SA, retailing popular brands such as Massimo Dutti and Zara in India.

As Zudio embarks on an ambitious expansion journey, Tata Group remains strategically positioned to cater to the evolving preferences of Indian consumers, combining affordability with contemporary fashion.
