STL and Lumos Join Forces to Propel 100% Fiber Optic Internet Transformation

In a significant move toward advancing high-speed internet infrastructure, STL (Sterlite Technologies Ltd), a prominent optical and digital solutions company, has announced a strategic collaboration with Lumos. This partnership aims to co-create cutting-edge fiber and optical connectivity solutions for Lumos’s ambitious plan to establish a transformative 100% fiber optic internet network in the mid-Atlantic region.

Empowering Lumos’s Growth with Fiber Optic Innovation

Lumos, a key player in STL’s recent fiber optic plant inauguration in Lugoff, South Carolina, is at the forefront of STL’s innovative approach to fiber and optical solutions. STL’s advanced optical capabilities will play a pivotal role in supporting Lumos’s expanding network, which currently provides 100% fiber-optic internet, whole-home Wi-Fi, voice, and streaming services to over 275,000 homes and businesses across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.

A Collaborative Journey Toward Seamless Connectivity

Senior executives from Lumos have recently visited STL’s research and development facilities, including the glass preform, fiber, and cable units in India. This collaborative effort signifies a long-term engagement where STL will provide purpose-engineered optical fiber cable designs to meet Lumos’s specific network requirements. As part of this venture, STL will also supply its signature Opto-bolt product, a pre-connectorized drop cable designed to enhance installation efficiency and modularity in the network design.

Meeting the Challenges of Large-Scale Network Expansion

David Smith, Chief Network Officer at Lumos, emphasized the importance of reliable partners with cutting-edge fiber technology, local presence, and fast delivery in the development of their extensive 100% fiber optic network. STL’s capability to offer advanced solutions aligns seamlessly with Lumos’s vision to deliver world-class, seamless fiber connectivity to its customers.

Paul Atkinson, CEO of Optical Networking Business at STL, expressed confidence in the partnership, stating, “Lumos’ ambition perfectly aligns with our larger purpose of transforming billions of lives by connecting the world.” He highlighted how STL’s optical products, driven by advanced fiber optic technology, will contribute to the success of this national-scale project.
