Snap Revamps Organizational Structure in India, Appoints New Country Head

Snap, the parent company of Snapchat, has announced a major overhaul of its organizational structure in India and has appointed Pulkit Trivedi as the new country head. This strategic move highlights the growing significance of the Indian market for Snap and its commitment to local growth and partnerships.

Under the new reporting system, Snap’s Indian teams will report directly to Pulkit Trivedi, granting greater autonomy to the local leadership in shaping growth strategies, fostering partnerships, and driving market development. Trivedi will report to Ajit Mohan, Snap’s Asia Pacific head, who joined the company from Meta last year.

Trivedi comes to Snap from Google, where he served as the director of Google Pay for the India business team. In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing Snap’s operations in India, which includes revenue generation, partner support, and nurturing the creator community.

Snap’s move to empower local leadership in India comes at a time when the country’s importance to the company is increasing significantly. With a focus on localized features and strategies, Snapchat has successfully expanded its reach within the Indian community, including marketers. The monthly active user base for Snapchat in India has soared to 200 million, doubling in less than two years. Furthermore, it has achieved an estimated 60% reach among the 13-24 age group in India, as estimated by Wells Fargo.

The restructuring involves various teams, including Growth, Market Development, Partnerships, Content, and Creator Ecosystem teams, which will all now report directly to Trivedi.

Ajit Mohan expressed his excitement about Pulkit Trivedi joining Snap’s team during this crucial phase of growth for the company in India and across the Asia-Pacific region. He emphasized Trivedi’s expertise in scaling businesses and driving substantial growth for partners as essential for continuing to engage Snap’s expanding community of over 200 million users in India.

India holds immense growth potential for major American tech companies seeking to tap into the next wave of millions of users. Companies like Google and Meta have already amassed a user base of over half a billion digitally connected Indians on a monthly basis. However, challenges in accessing segments of the population with limited internet and smartphone connectivity have presented obstacles for expansion.

Snap’s strategic restructuring and appointment of a new country head signify the company’s dedication to harnessing the opportunities India offers in terms of user base, growth, and partnerships in the tech industry.
