Rolls-Royce Strengthens Defence Ties: Partners with Azad Engineering for Aero-Engine Components

Rolls-Royce, the renowned aerospace and defence technology firm, has inked a significant long-term agreement with Azad Engineering to supply complex components for defence aircraft engines. In a company statement, Rolls-Royce highlighted the strategic partnership, wherein Hyderabad-based Azad Engineering will become part of the global supply chain for intricate components designed for Rolls-Royce’s technologically advanced aero engines.

Alex Zino, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Future Programmes and Head of Global Networks at Rolls-Royce, expressed the company’s commitment to collaboration and strengthening the defence ecosystem in India. Zino stated, “As we work towards strengthening the defence ecosystem, we are happy to expand our supply chain in India in partnership with Azad Engineering. The sourcing of complex components from India for aero engine programmes further advances the goal of capability creation in the country.”

Abhishek Singh, Senior Vice President of Defence for India and South-East Asia at Rolls-Royce, emphasized the agreement as a significant step towards leveraging Indian companies for defence manufacturing. Singh stated, “This reiterates our commitment to building our presence in India through local partnerships, furthering the vision of an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India).”

Rakesh Chopdar, Founder and CEO of Azad Engineering, expressed honor in being chosen as a strategic partner by Rolls-Royce. He said, “We are honoured to be chosen as a strategic partner by Rolls-Royce to make critical and complex components for defence aircraft engines.
