Ola Electric Unveils Ola Maps and Move OS 4 Software to Elevate Navigation Experience for EV Riders

In a strategic move to enhance the navigation experience for users of its electric two-wheelers, Ola Electric has officially introduced Ola Maps with the widespread deployment of its Move OS 4 software platform. This software upgrade, designed specifically for Ola’s electric scooters, aims to redefine navigation through the integration of the innovative Ola Maps.

Key Features of Move OS 4:

  • Faster and More Accurate Search: The updated software facilitates a quicker and more precise search function for improved routing.
  • Redesigned User Interface: A seamless user interface allows riders to access essential features without leaving the navigation screen, enhancing overall user experience.
  • Personalized Navigation: Users can designate favorite locations, enabling a highly personalized navigation experience.
  • Bluetooth Integration: Locations can be pushed from users’ phones to their scooters via Bluetooth.
  • Scooter Locator: Users can locate their scooters directly from the Ola Electric app.

Ola Electric’s Move OS 4 aims to bring a host of improvements to its electric scooters, with more than 100 features and enhancements for the Ola S1 Gen 1 scooter portfolio, S1 Pro (2nd Generation), and S1 Air. The S1 X+ model is set to receive the upgrade in the coming months.

Additional Enhancements: Apart from the introduction of Ola Maps, Move OS 4 brings significant improvements, including:

  • Hill Descent Control Enhancements
  • Cruise Control in Eco-Mode
  • AI-Based Indicator Control for Automated Operation

Ola Electric emphasizes that having an in-house navigation system will enable continuous improvement based on user feedback and contribute to an evolving mapping and navigation experience.

Challenges and Controversies: While Ola Electric has faced criticism and controversies related to safety issues and after-sales service, the company has been a market leader in terms of two-wheeler EV sales in 2023, surpassing 2.6 Lakh units sold. Despite controversies, it filed for an IPO worth over INR 5,500 Crore last month, making strides in India’s electric vehicle market.
