Myntra’s ‘Maya’: Your AI Shopping Assistant for a Personalized Experience

Myntra, the fashion powerhouse under Flipkart’s banner, has introduced an AI-driven chatbot named ‘Maya’ to enhance the online shopping journey for its customers. As the festive shopping season gains momentum, Maya’s AI capabilities will assist shoppers in discovering their desired products and provide tailored recommendations.

Raghu Krishnananda, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Myntra, expressed the significance of this development, stating, “The introduction of our AI-powered shopping assistant, Maya, marks a significant milestone in our journey to elevate the shopping experience of millions of fashion-forward shoppers in the country by providing a conversational interface to our users.”

Maya, powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT, boasts the ability to analyze a vast catalog of over 2.3 million products spanning Myntra’s fashion, beauty, footwear, and home categories. It leverages this extensive database to offer personalized product recommendations based on users’ preferences and shopping inquiries. Notably, Maya is an extension of Myntra’s virtual fashion influencer of the same name, who is entirely AI-generated.

This launch comes ahead of Myntra’s flagship event, the ‘Big Fashion Festival’ sale, which focuses on providing discounts on fashion and lifestyle items for the festive season. Maya is strategically designed to elevate the online shopping experience by making it more personalized and efficient, ultimately driving increased sales by guiding customers to their desired products seamlessly.

Initially, Maya is being introduced to 10% of Myntra’s user base for a trial phase. The company’s future plans involve expanding Maya’s reach to around 20% of its app users in the coming months. Additionally, Myntra intends to scale up the feature further and incorporate options for local languages, enhancing accessibility and usability.
