Navigating the Seas of Opportunity: India’s Maritime Summit Sets Sail with Rs 10 Trillion Investments and Over 300 MoUs

In a significant development that promises to elevate India’s maritime industry to new heights, the 3rd Global Maritime India Summit has set sail in Mumbai. With the unwavering guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the summit is poised to bring in an expected investment of a whopping Rs 10 lakh crore. Moreover, more than 300 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) are anticipated to be inked during this grand event.

Charting a Course for Maritime Excellence

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, revealed that this is the third edition of the Global Maritime India Summit, building upon its successful predecessors in 2016 and 2021. He underscored the transformative leadership of Prime Minister Modi, who has galvanized India’s development efforts with strength, courage, and guidance.

Minister Sonowal expressed his confidence in the trajectory India is on under PM Modi’s stewardship. He stated, “Through Global Maritime India Summit, Bharat is definitely going to become a leading maritime nation in the coming times. The progress achieved and the development in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways over the last 9.5 years are testaments to PM Modi’s vision and leadership.”

A Global Maritime Confluence

With more than 50 countries participating, the summit anticipates investments worth around Rs 10 lakh crore and the signing of over 300 MoUs. India is poised to play a pivotal role in the realms of ports, shipping, and waterways, a testament to its surging maritime prowess. The event will feature an array of discussions with the participation of senior ministers from the Government of India and global CEOs from leading maritime companies across the globe.

Minister Sonowal emphasized that under PM Modi’s leadership, India is making substantial strides toward becoming the world’s third-largest economy. To reinforce this forward momentum, the three-day Global Maritime India Summit is set to commence in Mumbai, with Prime Minister Modi inaugurating the event.

The 2023 edition of the International Maritime India Summit promises to surpass its predecessors in terms of scale and participation, opening doors to a multitude of opportunities in the maritime sector. It is a resounding declaration of India’s commitment to chart a course for maritime excellence on the global stage.
