Infosys Adapts to Client Demands: Flexible Work Arrangements for Office-based Projects

Infosys, one of India’s leading IT companies, is adapting to the changing demands of its clients by providing flexible work options for its employees. While the company has implemented a work-from-home policy, some clients have expressed a preference for their projects to be handled specifically from the office. In response to this, Infosys CEO and Managing Director, Salil Parekh, stated during the company’s 42nd Annual General Meeting that there will be a growing need for social capital in the future, where people will have to connect for training and new initiatives.

Parekh emphasized that Infosys has embraced a flexible approach, giving employees the choice to work from home or follow a hybrid model. However, in cases where clients require it, employees and teams are working from the company’s office campuses. Looking ahead, Parekh anticipated a combination of work settings, recognizing the importance of increased social capital to foster connections and collaboration among colleagues for new projects.

With approximately 340,000 employees, Infosys recognizes the significance of social capital and the benefits of working from the office on designated days. The Chief Financial Officer, Nilanjan Roy, supported this perspective, stating that employees are encouraged to come into the office as per clients’ requirements, as it enhances social capital and facilitates effective collaboration.

In response to a shareholder’s question about business operations in South America and the Middle East, Parekh acknowledged Infosys’ presence in both regions but noted that their revenue contribution is currently low. However, he expressed the company’s intention to focus more on the Middle East, recognizing significant opportunities in that market and a commitment to scaling up operations accordingly.

As the business landscape continues to evolve, Infosys demonstrates its adaptability by offering flexible work arrangements and accommodating clients’ preferences for office-based projects. By recognizing the importance of social capital and fostering collaboration, the company aims to meet the needs of both employees and clients while exploring new growth opportunities in emerging markets.
