Hyundai Motor India Achieves Record 6 Lakh Domestic Sales in 2023, Registers 10% Export Growth

Hyundai Motor India has marked a significant milestone by achieving the highest-ever domestic sales in the calendar year 2023, crossing the six lakh sales threshold. The automaker reported total sales of 6,02,111 units, reflecting a noteworthy 9% increase over the previous year’s 5,52,511 units.

Notably, Hyundai Motor India also demonstrated an impressive export performance, recording a 10% growth by shipping 1,63,675 units in 2023, compared to 1,48,300 units in the previous year.

In December 2023 alone, the company achieved a total of 56,450 units in sales, comprising 42,750 units in domestic sales and 13,700 units in exports.

Tarun Garg, Chief Operating Officer, Hyundai Motor India, expressed satisfaction with the company’s performance, stating, “HMIL has not just kept pace but surpassed industry growth (estimated at around 8.2%), a testament to customers choosing brand Hyundai as their preferred mobility brand. Also, in 2023, we proactively expanded our annual production capacity by 50,000 units to meet the increasing demand from our customers.” The automaker currently operates from 1,366 sales points and 1,548 service points across India.

Hyundai Motor India boasts a diverse model lineup comprising 13 car models across various segments, including popular models like the Grand i10 NIOS, i20, VENUE, CRETA, ALCAZAR, and the all-electric SUV IONIQ 5.

The company’s manufacturing plant near Chennai, equipped with advanced production, quality, and testing capabilities, supports its exports to 88 countries spanning Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, Australia, and the Asia Pacific.

In light of rising input costs, adverse exchange rates, and increased commodity prices, Hyundai Motor India implemented a price increase in December. Despite this, the automaker remains committed to internal efforts aimed at minimizing future price impacts on customers.
