In a monumental move, Google is set to establish its second-largest campus outside of the United States in Hyderabad, a development that has earned accolades from Anand Mahindra, Chairman of The Mahindra Group. The tech giant’s expansion in Hyderabad, now spanning an impressive 3 to 3.3 million square feet, marks a significant milestone in its global footprint.
Anand Mahindra expressed his admiration for Google’s decision to build its largest office outside the U.S in Hyderabad. In a tweet, he shared, “When a global, iconic giant like Google decides to build its largest office outside the U.S in a particular country, it’s not just commercial news, it’s a geopolitical statement. It’s all happening here now…finally.”
Scheduled for completion by 2026, the new Google office in Hyderabad will be a colossal 3 million square feet elliptical building, setting a record as the largest campus owned and operated by Google outside its Mountain View headquarters. The architectural design is led by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM), a British firm making its debut in the Indian office architecture market.
Initially planned as a 2 million square kilometer facility with a Rs 1,000 crore investment, the campus’s expansion signifies a testament to the flourishing tech landscape in Hyderabad. The journey began in 2015 when Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao visited Google’s headquarters in California, culminating in a signed agreement between the two parties.
As Hyderabad eagerly awaits the completion of this technological marvel, Google’s expanding presence reinforces the city’s status as a burgeoning hub for innovation and growth.
