Hero MotoCorp Ventures into EV Segment with Zero Electric, Check Details

Hero MotoCorp, the leading Indian two-wheeler manufacturer, has been dominating the fuel-powered bike segment in India for years. However, the company is now venturing into the electric vehicle (EV) sector to expand its offerings and cater to the growing demand for eco-friendly vehicles. To achieve this goal, Hero MotoCorp has made significant investments in electric vehicle brands, and it is now set to partner with California-based Zero Motorcycles, renowned for its feature-loaded electric two-wheelers.

Hero MotoCorp’s EV Plans: The company has reportedly invested around 60 million dollars (approximately Rs 491 crore) in Zero Motorcycles. This substantial investment demonstrates Hero MotoCorp’s commitment to grow in the EV segment and provide customers with value-for-money electric vehicles.

Hero MotoCorp EV Product: According to Hero MotoCorp’s annual report, the company is planning to introduce an electric bike under the guidance of Zero Motorcycles. While specific details about the upcoming electric bike have not been disclosed yet, it is expected to be equipped with cutting-edge technology to meet the demands of modern riders. As the market for electric bikes continues to grow, Hero MotoCorp aims to create a competitive product that will cater to the needs of its loyal customer base.

Potential Budget Electric Bike: If all goes as planned, Hero MotoCorp, in collaboration with EV giant Zero Motorcycles, might introduce a budget-friendly electric bike. This move would likely pose tough competition for existing electric bike brands that have already established their presence in the market.

Zero Motorcycles’ Lineup: Zero Motorcycles currently offers a diverse range of EV bikes, including naked bikes, fully faired sports bikes, dual-sport versions, and an adventure-tourer. All these models are produced at the company’s Scotts Valley plant.

Power and Range: The power figures of the Zero Motorcycle models vary, with battery packs ranging from 7.2kWh to 17.3kWh. These electric bikes can generate a maximum power of around 9.86 bhp and a peak torque of 190 Nm. As for the range, the EVs can cover approximately 300 km to 320 km on a full charge, depending on the riding conditions.

With Hero MotoCorp’s foray into the EV segment through its collaboration with Zero Motorcycles, the Indian market can expect exciting and competitive electric two-wheelers in the near future. As the EV revolution gains momentum, this strategic move is likely to bolster Hero MotoCorp’s position in the evolving automotive landscape.
