Haier India Charts Strategic Course with 100% Focus on Localization for Next 2 Years

In a significant move aimed at consolidating its position in the Indian market, Haier India has announced a dedicated focus on localization over the next two years. With the factory expansion phase completed, Haier is channeling its efforts into aligning with the country’s diverse consumer base and strengthening its connection with local communities.

Haier India President NS Satish, in an interview with The Mobile India, revealed the brand’s commitment to boosting the “Make in India” initiative. Satish highlighted that the company has already wrapped up its factory expansion and will now shift its attention entirely towards local sourcing and manufacturing.

According to the provided statistics, Haier is making substantial progress in localizing its products. In refrigerator manufacturing, 70% of components are now sourced locally, showcasing a significant leap in self-sufficiency. However, in TV manufacturing, certain components are still imported due to unavailability in the Indian market.

An interesting development shared by Satish is Haier’s initiation of full-scale local manufacturing of glass doors for refrigerators within India. He acknowledged the support of the Indian government, which is actively promoting the “Make in India” initiative by providing incentives and other means to encourage local component sourcing.

In the interview, Satish also emphasized the superiority of Haier products compared to competitor brands like LG and Samsung. The company, celebrating its 20th anniversary in India, has marked the occasion with the launch of a new range of products, including refrigerators, air conditioners, TVs, and more.
