Fibermind to Acquire Italtel’s Ultrabroadband Business Division

Italian telecommunications equipment and ICT company, Italtel, is making strategic moves to reshape its business portfolio. The company has recently announced its agreement to sell its Ultrabroadband (UBB) business unit to Fibermind, a Milan-based entity within the Maticmind group with expertise in infrastructural network construction for fiber optic connections. While the financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, this transaction marks a significant step for both companies.

Italtel’s Strategic Growth Focus

Italtel’s decision to divest its UBB business unit is part of its broader growth strategy. The company is realigning its focus towards digital transformation, network integration solutions, and ICT services. This strategic shift also involves strengthening its presence in key segments, including cybersecurity, cloud solutions, analytics and automation, and IoT (Internet of Things).

Ultrabroadband Business Unit

Italtel’s UBB business unit specializes in designing advanced fiber optic FTTH (Fiber To The Home) and radio-based FWA (Fixed Wireless Access) access networks. This division is staffed by a dedicated team of around 100 professionals who have played a crucial role in the unit’s success and expertise.

Formation of a New Company (Newco)

To facilitate this transaction, Italtel has set up a new entity known as Newco. This new company will temporarily hold the UBB business division until the complete acquisition by Fibermind. Italtel’s strategic move aligns with the evolving telecommunications landscape and its commitment to delivering cutting-edge technology solutions to its customers.

The acquisition of Italtel’s UBB business division by Fibermind is expected to further enhance the capabilities of both organizations in the telecommunications sector. This development underscores Italtel’s vision for its future growth and focus in the ever-evolving ICT industry.
