Electrifying India’s Roads: EKA Mobility and GreenCell Mobility Pioneer Green Mass Transit

Pune: EKA Mobility, in collaboration with GreenCell Mobility, is set to introduce a fleet of 1000 electric buses, marking a significant leap toward sustainable and eco-friendly public transportation. The strategic agreement between EKA Mobility, supported by Mitsui Co., Ltd. and VDL Groep, and GreenCell Mobility, a key player in electric mass mobility, aims to revolutionize the global automobile sector with a focus on cleaner air and enhanced travel efficiency.

Dr. Sudhir Mehta, Founder & Chairman of EKA Mobility, emphasized the importance of electrifying mass transportation for a cleaner and more sustainable future. With over 50% of Indians relying on intercity bus transportation, Mehta highlighted the pivotal role of electrification in achieving cleaner air and more efficient travel.

GreenCell Mobility’s MD & CEO, Mr. Devndra Chawla, hailed the collaboration as a game-changer in the industry, projecting a transformation in public transportation towards a cleaner, eco-friendly solution.

Environmental Impact and Sustainability Goals:

The ambitious venture is expected to yield substantial environmental benefits, saving approximately Rs 70 crores in annual fuel costs. Moreover, it aims to prevent the consumption of 120 lakh gallons of diesel, equivalent to planting 15 lakh trees. The initiative is poised to benefit 6 lakh individuals daily, enhancing sustainable public transit infrastructure and curbing 32400 tonnes of CO2 emissions, contributing significantly to a greener, more sustainable future.

This joint effort aligns seamlessly with national and global sustainability initiatives, representing a crucial step towards a cleaner India and a more environmentally conscious world. EKA Mobility’s expertise, recognized under the Government of India’s Auto PLI policy, positions it uniquely as an end-to-end electric vehicle manufacturer, driving innovation in India’s electric mobility landscape.
