DataBank Expands Flagship Dallas Data Center to Fuel Tech Growth in Southwest

DataBank, a leading data center provider, has unveiled its ambitious expansion plans for the flagship Dallas data center, DFW3. As the technology ecosystem in the southwest region continues to flourish, DataBank is responding to increasing demands by adding 22,000 square feet of raised floor space and 3 MW of Critical Power. This expansion includes a dedicated catcher reserve block, enhancing the center’s reliability and capacity.

Meeting the Growing Technology Ecosystem Demands

DataBank’s decision to expand its Dallas data center highlights the surging technology demands of the southwest region. This expansion aligns with the growing significance of the Dallas area in the data center ecosystem, serving as a critical hub connecting users across the United States and South America.

Design and Reliability at DFW3

DFW3, located on a 16-acre campus at Dominion Parkway in Plano, features a design built for reliability. It is powered by dual feeds from an off-site Oncor substation, currently delivering 20 MW of power. The data center offers metro connectivity through Data Center Interconnect to DataBank’s other Dallas data centers, situated just 20-30 minutes away. DFW3 is designed with an N+1 power and cooling system to ensure the uptime of customer compute resources. Moreover, it holds Uptime Certified Tier 3 status, reflecting a high level of reliability and availability.

Supporting a Range of Cloud Services

DFW3 plays a crucial role in supporting a variety of DataBank cloud services, such as Enterprise Cloud, FedRAMP Cloud, SAN and Object Storage, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, Storage as a Service, and Disaster Recovery as a Service. This expansion reinforces the data center’s capacity to offer these vital cloud solutions.

Streamlining Growth Through Expansion

The Plano campus’s design offers an efficient framework for expansion, with scalable space and power options already in place. This expansion marks a significant milestone for DataBank, as it strengthens its foothold in the data center ecosystem and better serves the evolving needs of tech companies and businesses in the region.
