Amazon Diversifies Offerings: Now Delivering Full-Sized Homes to Your Doorstep

In a surprising expansion of its product offerings, Amazon is now delivering more than just packages; the e-commerce giant is now providing full-sized, foldable homes right to your doorstep. This unconventional addition to Amazon’s extensive inventory has garnered attention, marking a shift from traditional goods to pre-fabricated dwellings.

These homes, currently available in select countries like the US, fall under the category of pre-fabricated homes. With prices ranging from $12,500 (approximately Rs 10,37,494) to slightly over $30,000 (around Rs 24,89,986), Amazon’s foray into the housing market offers an affordable housing solution for those looking for a compact living space.

One of the listings on Amazon features the “Zolyndo portable prefabricated tiny home,” priced at $27,000 for the 19x20ft variant. This compact home comes equipped with 2 bedrooms, 1 living room, 1 bathroom, and a kitchen, making it a viable option for those seeking an economical housing solution.

These homes boast a unique multi-window/door setup, along with full electrical wiring, hot and cold water facilities, drainage, and insulation pipes. Transporting these foldable homes is a breeze; they arrive in a folded form factor but can be unfolded to reveal a fully functional living space.

A content creator showcased the assembly of one of these homes on social media, demonstrating how the entire house fits neatly inside an Amazon box. What initially appears to be a small container transforms into a complete house upon unfolding, showcasing the innovative design and compact nature of these dwellings.

While Amazon is making waves in the market with its foldable homes, it’s worth noting that other platforms, such as BOXABL, are also offering similar products. These tiny houses are designed for easy assembly and disassembly, providing a quick and flexible housing solution.

However, public reactions to this unconventional offering are mixed. Some are fascinated by the idea of ordering a home on Amazon, while others express concerns about the durability of these homes in the face of natural calamities like storms, floods, hurricanes, and heavy snowfall.

As Amazon pioneers the delivery of homes, it remains to be seen how this venture will be received by consumers and whether it will reshape the housing market in the long run.
