Airtel’s Milestone: Over 50 Million Unique 5G Users and Nationwide 5G Plus

In a remarkable achievement, Bharti Airtel, the trailblazing telecom provider, has announced that it has exceeded 50 million unique 5G users on its network. Celebrating the one-year anniversary of the launch of 5G services in India, Airtel’s 5G Plus network now blankets the entire nation, extending its reach to all districts and territories, except a few exceptional regions. Airtel’s rapid expansion of 5G Plus coverage has set a remarkable precedent in the country.

The Swift 5G Journey

Airtel’s journey to surpass 50 million unique 5G users has been a swift one, commencing with the launch of Airtel 5G Plus on October 1st, 2022, in eight major cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur, and Varanasi. The rollout of 5G Plus across all 28 states and 8 union territories within a year has marked one of the fastest 5G deployments in India.

This extensive coverage even extends to tourist destinations and unique locations, such as Kochi’s water metro stations, ensuring that customers in urban and remote areas alike can enjoy the benefits of blazing-fast 5G speeds.

A Series of Milestones

Airtel has consistently reached significant milestones within its 5G journey. In November 2022, the company proudly announced its first one million unique 5G customers, a feat achieved in less than 30 days of the commercial launch. Airtel was the first to introduce unique 5G users in India, setting the stage for user milestones in various regions across the country.

Airtel’s 5G Initiatives

Airtel has been at the forefront of driving 5G initiatives and experiences for its customers. It introduced the “5G Reality Check” in Chennai, urging users to explore the capabilities of their 5G network. In Hyderabad, Airtel’s 5G Plus network is accessible at key locations, including Metro Rail, railway stations, and bus terminals, enabling customers to enjoy ultrafast connectivity on the move.

5G Plus: Available Nationwide

Airtel’s 5G Plus is available for use on all 5G-compatible devices and is accessible in over 5,000 cities and towns across India, as of August. This extensive coverage ensures that customers can embrace the possibilities of 5G connectivity in both urban and rural settings.

A Promising Future

Bharti Airtel expressed its excitement about the enthusiastic adoption of 5G by millions of its customers and reaching the 50 million user milestone ahead of schedule. The company is committed to rapid expansion, working towards nationwide 5G coverage and enabling all its customers to enter the 5G era.

Nationwide 5G Plus Coverage

Airtel proudly proclaims that Airtel 5G Plus services are now accessible in all districts across India, except for regions in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Naxal-affected areas of Chhattisgarh, and the islands of Lakshadweep, which are connected through Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) technology.

India’s First FWA Service

Not stopping at 5G, Airtel launched the Airtel Xstream AirFiber in August, India’s first Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service powered by Airtel 5G Plus. This innovative offering serves as a plug-and-play solution, catering to consumers in areas with limited fiber connectivity. Boasting in-built Wi-Fi 6 technology, Airtel Xstream AirFiber provides extensive indoor coverage and can simultaneously connect up to 64 devices.
