Air India’s Transformation: New Logo and Livery Reflect a Dynamic India

Air India, now under the ownership of Tata Sons, has taken a bold step in rebranding its identity by unveiling a striking new logo and aircraft livery. This transformative move is in conjunction with the imminent delivery of the brand-new A350 aircraft, scheduled for December 2023.

The revamped logo and livery represent a fresh era for Air India, encapsulating the spirit of a dynamic and forward-looking India. This transformation marks a significant milestone in the airline’s Vihaan.AI initiative, signifying its journey toward modernization and innovation.

The newly unveiled logo features an innovative interpretation of the traditional Indian window shape, which has been historically associated with Air India. This iconic window has been reimagined into a golden frame, serving as the focal point of the airline’s new brand design. This distinctive element is a symbol of endless possibilities, depicted through a ‘Window of Possibilities.’

Dubbed ‘The Vista,’ the logo is a reflection of Air India’s confident and progressive outlook for the future. The brand’s new aircraft livery exhibits a vibrant palette of deep red, aubergine, and gold accents, alongside an eye-catching chakra-inspired pattern. Notably, a fresh, custom-made ‘Air India Sans’ font has been introduced, radiating both assurance and warmth, aligning the brand as a premium and inclusive carrier.

Campbell Wilson, CEO & MD of Air India, shared his perspective on this transformative journey, stating, “Our transformative new brand reflects an ambition to make Air India a world-class airline serving guests from around the globe, and that represents a new India proudly on the global stage.” The rebranding endeavor aims to position Air India as a dynamic yet tradition-rooted airline, combining modernity with its rich heritage of Indian hospitality.

Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran expressed his passion for making Air India a world-class airline that every Indian can be proud of. He highlighted the airline’s commitment to excellence in terms of safety, technology, fleet, maintenance, and human resources.

The strategic partnership with FutureBrand, a brand transformation company, has resulted in a remarkable fusion of Air India’s historical legacy and its aspirations for excellence and innovation. The collaboration has given birth to a standout brand design that represents a premium global airline with an Indian essence.

Travellers can anticipate witnessing the new logo throughout their journey starting from December 2023, coinciding with the induction of Air India’s first Airbus A350 into the fleet with the new livery.

As Air India embarks on this transformative journey, its rebranding effort signifies a renewed commitment to global aviation standards and an opportunity to proudly showcase Indian hospitality on an international stage.
