Adani Green Secures Record-Breaking 8,000 MW Solar Tender Deal with SECI

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], December 25: Adani Green Energy, a frontrunner in the renewable energy sector, has successfully executed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for the supply of 1,799 megawatts of solar power. This milestone signifies the conclusion of the power offtake tie-up for the entire 8,000 MW manufacturing-linked solar tender awarded to Adani Green by SECI in June 2020, setting a world record for the largest solar tender.

Adani Green Energy has diligently progressed on its commitments under the SECI manufacturing-linked solar photovoltaic tender, including the establishment of 2 gigawatts (GW) of photovoltaic cell and module manufacturing facilities.

The company has already commissioned a solar photovoltaic cell and module manufacturing plant with a capacity of 2 GW per annum at Mundra, Gujarat, through its associate company Mundra Solar Energy. Adani Green Energy holds a 26% stake in Mundra Solar Energy through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Adani Renewable Energy Holding Four Ltd.

With this significant achievement, Adani Green has secured power purchase agreements totaling 19.8 GW, with the remaining capacity classified as merchant capacity within its locked-in portfolio of 20.6 GW. The company holds over two lakh acres of land in resource-rich areas of India, fully de-risking its portfolio for the execution of 45 GW capacity by 2030.

Amit Singh, CEO of Adani Green Energy, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting India’s decarbonization goals and contributing to the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. Singh stated, “We are glad to conclude the largest green PPA and enable a sustainable energy landscape. Aligned with India’s target of 500 GW non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, Adani Green is determined to deliver in excess of 45 GW renewable energy, a five-fold increase from our current operating portfolio. This reaffirms our resolve to provide affordable and accessible clean energy.”
