ACT Fibernet Elevates Connectivity: Launches Public Wi-Fi Hotspots Across Chennai

ACT Fibernet, India’s prominent fiber-focused broadband service provider, has unveiled a groundbreaking project to enhance connectivity in Chennai. The company announced the launch of public Wi-Fi hotspots across the city, with a ceremonial event held at the Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam. The event saw the presence of Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister, M K Stalin, and senior dignitaries from the government.

Connected City Vision

The initiative, according to ACT Fibernet, is designed to transform Chennai into a connected city, aiming to bridge the digital divide and empower residents with seamless and high-speed internet access. The deployment of Wi-Fi hotspots will be conducted in phases, with over 500 hotspots initially deployed at key locations such as Marina Beach, Besant Nagar Beach, bus stops, parks, and bus terminus.

Extensive Coverage and Accessibility

ACT Fibernet envisions expanding this network to 3000 hotspots across Chennai in subsequent phases, ensuring extensive coverage and accessibility for residents. The deployment strategy aligns with the company’s commitment to providing a more connected and empowered future for the city’s residents.

Free and Easy Wi-Fi Access

One of the key features of this initiative is that both ACT Fibernet customers and non-customers can enjoy free Wi-Fi access for 45 minutes. Non-customers will experience speeds up to 20 Mbps, while ACT Fibernet subscribers will access Wi-Fi at their subscribed speeds.

Commenting on the project, M K Stalin, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, expressed, “This project aligns perfectly with our vision of creating a digitally empowered Tamil Nadu, providing equal access to information and opportunities for all citizens.”

Bala Malladi, Chief Executive Officer of ACT Fibernet, highlighted the transformative power of the Internet and expressed confidence that this initiative would significantly enhance the lives of Chennai residents.
