2degrees Expands 5G Coverage to More Regions Across New Zealand

New Zealand’s telecommunications provider, 2degrees, has taken another significant step in its 5G network expansion by launching 5G technology in several regions, including Nelson, Oamaru, Greymouth, Gore, and Masterton. This move aligns with 2degrees’ strategic plan to bring 5G connectivity to 50 towns in New Zealand by mid-next year.

Growing 5G Footprint in New Zealand

2degrees has been steadily expanding its 5G network, emphasizing the importance of the government’s allocation of 3.5 GHz spectrum rights earlier this year. These spectrum rights have provided a sense of confidence for 2degrees, enabling them to invest in the development of world-class mobile networks across the country.

Enhancing Mobile Connectivity and Data Services

The addition of 5G technology in these regions is expected to significantly enhance mobile connectivity and data services, making New Zealand’s mobile network capabilities even more robust. The rollout of 5G networks allows for faster data speeds, reduced latency, and improved network capacity, which benefits both consumers and businesses.

Record Network Usage Amidst Influx of Visitors

2degrees recently reported a surge in network usage, setting post-COVID records in August. This increase in network activity is attributed to the influx of international visitors coming to New Zealand for the World Cup.

Expanding 5G Areas

2degrees’ 5G technology is already available in several areas across New Zealand, including Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Palmerston North, Whangarei, Rotorua, Masterton, Napier, Hamilton, Tauranga, Cromwell, and more. The expansion of 5G services aims to provide these regions with improved mobile connectivity and data capabilities, ensuring that they stay connected in an increasingly digital world.

As 2degrees continues to invest in its 5G rollout, New Zealanders can look forward to enjoying the benefits of enhanced network performance and the potential for new and innovative applications that 5G technology enables.
