In a remarkable move, Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading car manufacturer, is set to make its popular Wagon R available in Canteen Store Departments (CSD) across the country, bringing a wave of excitement and exclusive discounts for defence personnel.
Significant Savings for Defence Personnel
In this initiative, the base variant of the Maruti Wagon R in CSD will be priced ₹87,697 lower than the market rate. Opting for the top variant promises a substantial saving of ₹1,09,463. These exclusive prices come as a result of the exemption from Goods and Services Tax (GST), making the on-road price of the car much more affordable for the Indian Army and other security forces personnel.
CSD Pricing Details
The Canteen Stores will offer a total of 11 variants of the Wagon R, available in both manual and automatic transmissions, along with petrol and CNG variants. The starting price in Canteen Stores is ₹4,66,803, offering significant savings compared to the ₹5,54,500 ex-showroom price for the general public.
Maruti Wagon R Features
The Wagon R, available in LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+ variants, stands out with features like a 7-inch touchscreen display, 4-speaker music system, and steering-mounted audio controls. For safety, it offers dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and hill-hold assist (only on AMT variants).
Engine, Power, and Mileage
Known for its tall-boy design, the Wagon R accommodates ample headroom and leg space. The base models feature a 1.0-liter K-series engine, while the top models boast a 1.2-liter engine, also available with a CNG option. The 1.2-liter petrol engine delivers 88.5 BHP of power and 113 Nm of peak torque, with impressive mileage figures of 25.19 km/l for the petrol MT variant and 34.05 km/kg for the CNG variant.
A Special Gesture for India’s Defence Forces
Maruti Suzuki’s decision to offer the Wagon R at reduced prices in CSD canteens is a commendable move, acknowledging the sacrifices and service of the nation’s defence personnel. This initiative not only makes the Wagon R more accessible but also adds to their sense of pride and ownership.
