VinFast, the Vietnamese electric car manufacturer, showcased its latest offering, the VF3 supermini electric SUV, at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The global debut of VF3 marks a significant stride for VinFast in its pursuit of a prominent position in the international electric vehicle landscape.
Design and Specifications
The VF3 presents a robust and versatile design, featuring a tall, boxy profile and reasonable ground clearance suitable for diverse terrains. Notable exterior elements include a closed rectangular grille, LED headlamps, squared ORVMs, and a sturdy black bumper that extends to the wheel arches, contributing to its rugged aesthetic. The rear of the vehicle is adorned with LED taillamps and a chrome-finished brand logo.
Available in two trims, Eco and Plus, the VF3 is equipped with a single-motor configuration. While specific battery details are undisclosed, VinFast aims for an impressive 201km range on a full charge. With dimensions measuring 3,190mm in length, 1,679mm in width, and 1,620mm in height, the SUV offers a spacious 550-litre boot space.
Interior Features
The VF3’s interior is packed with advanced features, including a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car technology, and fully foldable second-row seats for added convenience. Additional features encompass a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, a distinctive two-spoke steering wheel, cruise control, and dual airbags, ensuring both comfort and safety for drivers and passengers.
Investment in India
VinFast’s strategic move towards global expansion includes the construction of a new manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, India. Covering 400 acres, this state-of-the-art factory is anticipated to have an annual production capacity of up to 150,000 vehicles. Representing a substantial investment of Rs. 4,165 crore, the project aims to generate employment for over 3,500 local residents, showcasing VinFast’s commitment to contributing to the Indian economy while fortifying its presence in the global electric vehicle market.
