Triumph Unveils 2024 Daytona 660: A Sport Tourer with Aggressive Power

Triumph Motorcycles has officially taken the wraps off the much-anticipated 2024 Daytona 660, marking a significant evolution from its predecessor as it transforms into a sport touring motorcycle. The launch overseas has stirred excitement, and Indian enthusiasts can anticipate its arrival by late-2024. While not a direct competitor to the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, the Daytona 660 is poised to go head-to-head with the popular Honda CBR 650R in the Indian market.

Key Specifications and Performance: The Daytona 660 shares its 660 cc platform with the Trident 660 but packs a more powerful punch. Housing an inline three-cylinder engine, it delivers an impressive 95 bhp and 69 Nm of torque, with a redline set at 12,650 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and introduces three distinct ride modes—Sport, Road, and Rain. Safety features like traction control and ABS enhance the overall riding experience. The motorcycle also features full LED lighting and a TFT display with smartphone connectivity, bringing a blend of performance and technology to the forefront.

Distinctive Features and Riding Dynamics: While retaining the primary frame, wheels, and several cycle components from its predecessor, the Daytona 660 showcases notable differences. Weighing in at 201 kg (12 kg more than the Trident), it introduces Triumph-branded radially mounted calipers and a dedicated Sport riding mode, setting it apart from its counterparts. The suspension setup comprises Showa 41mm USD front forks and a preload-adjustable Showa monoshock. The braking system features twin 310mm front discs and a single 220mm rear disc, complemented by 17-inch alloys fitted with a 120/70 front and a 180/55 rear tire.

Pricing and Market Placement: The Daytona 660 is priced at £8,595 (approximately Rs 9.09 lakh) in the UK, positioning it slightly above the Trident 660, which is priced at £7,895 (approximately Rs 8.35 lakh). When it makes its way to the Indian market, the anticipated price range is between Rs 10 lakh to Rs 10.25 lakh (ex-showroom). With its distinctive features and competitive pricing, the motorcycle is expected to challenge the Honda CBR 650R in the Indian market.
