Toyota Plans to Introduce a Budget-Friendly 7-Seater SUV

Toyota, renowned for its robust SUVs and spacious 7-seaters, is gearing up to unveil an affordable addition to its lineup. In a bid to cater to a broader spectrum of consumers in India, the automotive giant is diligently working on a cost-effective 7-seater option.

Design Insights

Reports suggest that Toyota’s upcoming 7-seater will be built on the TNGA-C platform, akin to the Innova HyCross. While the wheelbase might be slightly truncated compared to the HyCross, it’s anticipated to align more closely with other C-SUV 7-seaters. Drawing inspiration from the globally popular Corolla Cross, albeit a 5-seater variant, Toyota aims to tailor a 7-seater version specifically for the Indian market.

Specifications Preview

Globally, the Corolla Cross boasts a 1.8-liter petrol engine; however, for the Indian market, Toyota is contemplating alternative powertrain options. Speculations hint at the inclusion of a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine and a robust 2.0-liter naturally aspirated strong hybrid petrol engine akin to the Innova HyCross. While such enhancements might elevate the SUV’s price point, the anticipated mileage figures could serve as a compelling drawcard for potential buyers.

Feature Enhancements

In line with recent trends, Toyota is expected to equip its latest offering with a plethora of contemporary features. Enthusiasts can anticipate an 8 or 9-inch infotainment system, heads-up display, digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, and automatic climate control, among others. Safety will likely remain paramount with the inclusion of features such as six airbags, ABS + EBD, and ESC.

Anticipated Pricing Strategy

Considering its shared TNGA-C platform with the Innova HyCross, Toyota might undertake strategic cost-cutting measures to position the 7-seater SUV competitively. With expectations running high, industry analysts speculate a starting price range of approximately Rs 14 to Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). This stands in contrast to the Innova HyCross, which currently commences from Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom).

Toyota’s endeavor to introduce an economical 7-seater SUV underscores its commitment to accommodating diverse consumer preferences while maintaining its signature blend of reliability and innovation. As anticipation mounts, enthusiasts eagerly await further updates on this promising addition to Toyota’s illustrious lineup.
