Toyota Fortuner 2024 Announced: Hybrid Engine and ADAS Features Unveiled

Toyota is set to launch an exciting new variant of the Fortuner in India later this year, featuring Mild-Hybrid technology. Introduction of Mild-Hybrid Technology Toyota recently showcased the new Fortuner in South Africa, which is based on the Legender model from India. This new version comes equipped with a Mild-Hybrid System along with several enhancements. According to dealer sources, Toyota plans to introduce this variant with Mild-Hybrid technology in India by the end of the year.

Enhanced Fuel Efficiency and Reduced Emissions The Mild-Hybrid technology offers numerous benefits, including enhanced fuel efficiency through the integration of electric power during acceleration. This not only improves performance but also significantly reduces emissions, supporting environmental sustainability.

Powertrain and Performance

The new Fortuner variant will feature a 2.8-liter Diesel engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. This combination is expected to provide an additional 15.7 BHP and 42 NM of torque, resulting in a total power output of 201 BHP and 500 NM of torque. The Petrol engine variant is anticipated to remain unchanged.

Anticipated Improvements Toyota has reported a 5% improvement in fuel efficiency for the South African Fortuner, and a similar enhancement is expected for the Indian version. Additionally, Toyota may introduce an Idle Start/Stop feature to further enhance throttle response and ensure smoother engine performance.
