Tata Unveils Cutting-Edge Acti.EV Architecture, Powering the Future of Electric Vehicles

Tata Motors is set to redefine the electric vehicle (EV) landscape with its groundbreaking ‘pure EV’ architecture, Acti.EV, pronounced as ‘active.’ This innovative platform is poised to make its debut on the eagerly anticipated Punch EV, ushering in a new era of electrified Tata vehicles, including the Curvv EV, Sierra EV, and Harrier EV.

Positioned as a cornerstone for Tata’s electric vehicle lineup, Acti.EV is expected to serve as the foundation for the brand’s entire range in the future, aligning with Tata’s ambitious goal of introducing 10 EVs in the coming years. Distinguished from Tata’s earlier Premium Pure EV architecture, shared with Jaguar Land Rover, Acti.EV focuses on a broader spectrum of EVs, showcasing Tata’s commitment to diversity and sustainability in its electric vehicle offerings.

Tata Acti.EV: Power, Range, and Versatility

Tata Motors has revealed that the Acti.EV architecture is designed for adaptability, accommodating various battery packs, including cylindrical or prismatic types. The utilization of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries, known for their suitability in diverse climates, ensures a robust performance. The battery configurations promise an impressive range of 300-600 kilometers, complemented by flexibility in charging options, supporting both 11kW AC chargers and rapid 150kW DC chargers.

Moreover, the Acti.EV platform offers versatility in drivetrain options, allowing for front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, and four-wheel drive configurations. With a 400-volt architecture, the platform supports both Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors and Induction motors, delivering power outputs ranging from 80hp to 230hp. This promises an exciting lineup of powerful and efficient Tata EVs.

Smart Features: V2V, V2L, and Future-Ready Technology

Tata Acti.EV doesn’t just focus on performance; it brings smart features to the forefront. The architecture incorporates Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) charging capabilities. This not only enhances flexibility but also allows one Tata vehicle to charge another and empowers the battery to serve as a power source for various gadgets and camping gear.

The commitment to safety is evident in the Acti.EV chassis, designed to achieve a 5-star crash test rating. Tata Motors employs a high percentage of Ultra High Strength Steel to safeguard the battery in side and pole impact tests, ensuring robust electrical safety. The architecture prioritizes efficient packaging with a flat floor for enhanced space utilization and features a frunk (front trunk) for added practicality.

Additionally, the Acti.EV architecture integrates 5G-enabled systems, facilitating over-the-air updates and cloud computing. The digital cockpit experience is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, offering compatibility with third-party apps and services. Some upcoming models are expected to feature Level 2 autonomous driver tech, with plans for Level 2+ in the future, showcasing Tata’s commitment to advancing automotive technology.

Tata Motors is paving the way for a sustainable and dynamic electric future, with Acti.EV as the driving force behind its innovative lineup.
