Tata Registers Trademark for New Car: Could the Tata Frest be the First Vehicle under Tata’s CURVV Concept?

Tata Motors, one of India’s leading automobile manufacturers, has recently made waves in the automotive industry by securing a new trademark for a car called the “Tata Frest.” Experts believe that this new car could potentially be the first vehicle under Tata’s CURVV concept.

The CURVV concept was unveiled by Tata at the 2023 Auto Expo, where it garnered significant attention and praise. The concept showcases an innovative SUV design characterized by sharp edges and a distinctive coupe-like silhouette. It aims to blend the ruggedness and durability of an SUV with the sporty and sleek appeal of a coupe.

Initially, the CURVV is expected to be launched as a petrol-powered SUV. However, there are strong indications that Tata will offer an electric powertrain option in the near future. With the shift in the market towards cleaner and greener mobility, an electric version of the CURVV seems highly plausible. Furthermore, there have been rumors suggesting the possibility of a compressed natural gas (CNG) variant, considering the diminishing popularity of diesel vehicles in 2024.

If the Tata Frest indeed becomes the production version of the CURVV concept, it will undoubtedly stand out on Indian roads with its bold and unconventional design. While it is unclear how much of the concept’s design and features will be retained in the production model, Tata Motors has typically remained faithful to the original concepts in the past. However, certain extreme design elements might be refined to accommodate production constraints.

It’s important to note that the Frest may not be the final and definitive name for the CURVV. Tata has the flexibility to register multiple names and decide on the most suitable option closer to the launch date. With the anticipated launch scheduled for 2024, there is ample time for market research to determine which name resonates best with potential buyers.

Interestingly, the CURVV concept showcased a unique two-spoke steering wheel, which is expected to be adopted in other upcoming Tata models. Speculations suggest that both the upcoming Tata Nexon facelift and the Punch electric car will incorporate this distinctive steering wheel design, adding a touch of uniqueness to their interiors.

While the Frest is generating excitement among automotive enthusiasts, it is important to remember that Tata has another highly anticipated car in the pipeline, namely the Tata Sierra EV. The Sierra EV concept received overwhelming acclaim at the 2023 Expo and will be available in both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) versions. The Sierra EV is expected to debut after the Frest and promises to be a game-changer in its own right.

Tata Motors continues to push the boundaries of automotive design and innovation with its CURVV concept. The introduction of the Tata Frest as a potential production model under the CURVV concept demonstrates Tata’s commitment to offering unique and captivating vehicles to its customers. As we eagerly await more details about the Frest and its features, it’s clear that Tata is poised to make a significant impact in the Indian automotive market in the coming years.
