Tata Punch.EV: Revolutionizing Electric Mobility with ‘acti.ev’ Architecture

Tata Motors is set to redefine the landscape of affordable electric vehicles (EVs) with the imminent launch of the Punch.EV on January 17. Positioned as one of the most cost-effective E-SUVs in Tata’s lineup, this electric marvel is expected to showcase groundbreaking technology and features, making it a game-changer in the under ₹10 lakh segment.

Revolutionizing Electric Mobility:

Tata Motors aims to disrupt the EV market by introducing the Punch.EV, available in Medium Range and Long Range options, across eight trim levels. Despite its affordability, the Punch.EV is poised to be a technological leap forward for Tata Motors, thanks to its utilization of the Gen 2 EV architecture, labeled as ‘acti.ev.’

The ‘acti.ev’ platform stands on four pillars: performance, technology, modularity, and space efficiency. This innovative architecture boasts an optimized battery pack with advanced cells meeting global standards, resulting in a 10% increase in energy density. The result is a versatile EV offering range options from 300 km to an impressive 600 km on a single charge.

The platform’s capabilities extend to fast charging, adding up to 100 km of range in just 10 minutes. With increased computational power and ADAS level 2 capabilities, ‘acti.ev’ ensures the Punch.EV is future-ready. It supports Vehicle to Load (V2L) and Vehicle to Vehicle Charging (V2V) technology and is 5G ready.

Features That Set the Punch.EV Apart:

The Punch.EV comes equipped with an array of features, including the revolutionary Arcade.ev in-car app suite, ensuring an enhanced user experience. The cockpit receives major upgrades, such as a redesigned steering wheel, paddle shifters for battery regeneration, a rotary dial for drive selection, and a touch-enabled climate control panel.

The tech-savvy enhancements include a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, and a 360-degree camera for added convenience. Safety is a priority, with six airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ISOFIX child seat mounts, and electronic stability control (ESC).

Tata’s EV Journey:

Tata Motors has been a pioneer in electrifying the passenger vehicle space in India, with a 75% market share in the e-passenger vehicle segment. The Punch.EV follows the success of models like the Tigor EV and the Nexon EV, which became India’s best-selling EV.

With the Gen 2 architecture, Tata Motors plans to introduce five new EV models in the next 18 months, including the Punch.EV. Looking ahead, the company envisions a third-gen EV platform in collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover, aiming to breach the 550 km range mark and enter the premium global EV market.
