Tata Nexon Facelift Achieves Coveted 5-Star BNCAP Safety Rating; EV Variant Up Next

In a significant achievement for Tata Motors, the latest Tata Nexon facelift equipped with internal combustion engines (ICE) has clinched a coveted 5-star safety rating from the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP). Launched in September 2023, the Nexon facelift demonstrated exceptional safety performance, garnering 32.22 out of 34 points for adult occupant protection and securing a 5-star rating with 44.52 out of 49 points for child occupant protection in the Global NCAP evaluation.

It’s essential to note that the assessment specifically focused on the Nexon facelift powered by petrol and diesel engines. However, the highly popular Nexon EV has not yet undergone BNCAP testing. Anticipation is building, considering the widespread adoption of the electric variant, which stands as the best-selling EV in India.

Alongside its robust structural integrity, the Tata Nexon prioritizes safety features, setting a benchmark for other cars in its segment. Standard safety features include six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), seat belt reminders, and ISOFIX restraints. Additional safety enhancements comprise a 360-degree camera, a blind view monitor, front parking sensors, and more.

The incorporation of fundamental safety features played a pivotal role in securing the prestigious 5-star BNCAP rating for the Nexon. Car manufacturers are increasingly emphasizing safety, integrating advanced features as standard offerings. Notably, while six airbags are not mandatory, many automakers, including Tata, are making them available from base variants upwards in compact SUVs.

The evolving automotive landscape reflects a heightened awareness among buyers regarding safety considerations. Beyond comfort and convenience features, safety has emerged as a paramount factor influencing purchasing decisions. Experts recommend opting for vehicles equipped with a minimum of six airbags and comprehensive safety features as standard to ensure a secure and protected driving experience.
