Tata Nexon EV and Tiago EV Witness Significant Price Reduction, Aiming for Greater Accessibility

In a strategic move to make electric mobility more accessible to the Indian market, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM) has announced substantial price cuts for its popular electric models, the Nexon EV and Tiago EV. This adjustment in pricing comes at a time when other automakers in India are raising the costs of their vehicles, citing escalating input expenses.

The decision to reduce the prices of the Nexon EV and Tiago EV closely follows the recent launch of the Punch EV, the latest addition to Tata’s electric vehicle lineup. TPEM asserts that the price revisions are aimed at ensuring a wider consumer base for electric vehicles in India. Notably, the decrease in battery cell costs and the potential for further reductions in the future played a pivotal role in implementing these changes.

According to the announcement by TPEM, the Nexon EV will see a price cut of up to Rs 1.2 lakh. Consequently, the electric SUV will now be available at a starting price of Rs 14.49 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Long Range variant starts at Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Simultaneously, Tata Tiago EV sees a price reduction of up to Rs 70,000, bringing its starting price to Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Tata Nexon EV, in its current generation, boasts a sleek modern design and is offered with two battery pack options: Medium Range and Long Range. The Medium Range version features a 30.2 kWh battery pack, providing a range of 325 km on a single charge. On the other hand, the Long Range version is equipped with a larger 40.5 kWh battery pack, offering an extended range of up to 465 km on a single charge.

Similarly, the Tata Tiago EV is available in Medium Range and Long Range variants. The Medium Range version incorporates a 19.2 kWh battery pack, providing a range of up to 250 km. Meanwhile, the Long Range variant comes with a more substantial 24 kWh battery pack, offering an increased range of up to 315 km.

This move by TPEM aims to make electric vehicles more attractive and accessible to a broader segment of the Indian population, aligning with the growing trend towards sustainable and eco-friendly transportation options.
