GSX-8R: A Stylish Evolution of Power
Based on Suzuki’s 776cc engine platform shared with the GSX-8S and V-Strom 800DE, the GSX-8R enters the scene as a new middleweight sportbike. While specific output figures are yet to be disclosed, expectations align with the robust 82hp/78Nm performance seen in its naked counterpart. Retaining the underpinnings and electronics from the GSX-8S, the GSX-8R introduces a layered full-fairing with a distinctive, comfortable design. The raised clip-on handlebars add to the comfort, setting it apart at 208kg, slightly heavier than the GSX-8S.
As the 776cc engine lineup awaits its Indian debut, the fate of the GSX-8R’s arrival in India remains an intriguing prospect.
GSX-S1000GX: Elevating the Sporty Crossover Experience
Born from the same platform as the GSX-S1000 GT sport-tourer, the GSX-S1000GX takes the crossover game to new heights. Sharing the main frame and engine, the GX differentiates itself with a commanding stance, reinforced subframe, and a revolutionary Showa electronic suspension.
The GX introduces Suzuki’s Active Damping Control with preset settings (Hard, Medium, Soft) and a fully customizable User mode. It marks a milestone in the GSX-S lineup as the first model equipped with cornering ABS and traction control, powered by a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU).
While the Suzuki Katana is currently the sole representative of this engine platform in India, the potential arrival of the GSX-S1000GX poses an exciting challenge to competitors like the Kawasaki Versys 1000 and the BMW S 1000 XR.
