Skoda’s 7 Seater Marvel: The New Kodiaq with ADAS Features Challenges the Fortuner

Skoda has pulled the covers off its much-anticipated second-generation Kodiaq, set to make its official debut in the Indian market in 2024. The buzz around the SUV had been building for months, with spy shots and teaser images making rounds on social media.

A Glimpse into the New Design

The exterior design has undergone significant development, giving the SUV a sportier look. The new Kodiaq now stretches to 4.75 meters, an increase of 61mm from its predecessor, while the wheelbase and width remain unchanged at 2.71 meters and 1.8 meters, respectively.

What Stands Out in the Design?

The revamped exterior boasts a new variant of the Skoda grille, now accompanied by a connecting LED and new matrix LED headlamps. The extended length is evident in the profile, thanks to the D-pillar’s rack. The presented wheel design is an evolution from the older model, and the rear showcases the new Kodiaq’s C-size tail lamps, an LED light bar, and a number plate slot.

Seating Layout and Features

The new Kodiaq will be available in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations. Feature-wise, it’s equipped with an entry lighting system, enhanced climate control, wireless charging, and increased storage all around. Skoda has also incorporated a reverse camera and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).

Engine and Performance

For the Indian market, the Kodiaq will be powered by a 2.0-liter TSI petrol engine, churning out 200bhp and a torque of 320Nm. It will be mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox, with AWD as standard.

When Can We Expect It?

The next-gen Kodiaq is expected to roll out in India in 2024. Like its predecessor, it will be assembled at Skoda’s Aurangabad plant alongside the next-gen Skoda Octavia, Skoda Superb, Volkswagen Tiguan, Tiguan Allspace, and rivals like Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster.
