Skoda Auto India is gearing up to make a significant entry into the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market with the launch of its first electric SUV, Enyaq, on February 27, 2024. The Enyaq, globally unveiled in 2022, will be introduced to the Indian market via the Completely Built-Up (CBU) route, showcasing Skoda’s commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation.
Platform and Features
Built on Skoda’s MEB platform, shared with its counterpart, the Volkswagen ID.4, the Enyaq boasts cutting-edge technology and a focus on eco-friendly mobility. This platform underscores Skoda’s dedication to innovation and collaboration within the Volkswagen Group.
The Enyaq’s distinctive features include a 2,765 mm wheelbase and dimensions measuring 4,648 mm in length, 1,877 mm in width, and 1,618 mm in height. Its two-row configuration offers a spacious yet compact profile, differentiating it from Skoda’s flagship SUV, the Kodiaq.
The SUV’s design includes an illuminated grille, LED headlamps, contrast black inserts, and aero-inspired alloy wheels. The rear end features wraparound two-piece LED tail lights, Skoda lettering, an integrated spoiler, and a shark-fin antenna.
Inside, the Enyaq offers modern amenities such as an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), a 360-degree camera, dual all-digital displays, and a multifunction steering wheel, catering to the preferences of tech-savvy consumers.
India Launch Specifics
Available globally in five trim levels, the Enyaq is expected to launch in India in the Enyaq 80 variant. This model comes with a 77 kWh battery pack, providing a WLTP claimed range of 500 km. The rear-mounted electric motor delivers a maximum power output of 200 bhp and a peak torque of 310 Nm, enabling the Enyaq 80 to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.5 seconds.
