Skoda Electrifies Indian Roads: Enyaq Electric SUV Launches with Premium Features and German Engineering

Skoda Auto, the renowned Czech automotive giant, is making waves in the Indian automotive landscape with the official launch of its first electric vehicle, the Enyaq electric SUV, on February 26. This landmark move signals Skoda’s entry into the premium electric vehicle segment in India, reflecting the company’s commitment to sustainable and innovative mobility solutions.

Key Highlights of the Skoda Enyaq Electric SUV Launch

Launch Date and Debut: The Enyaq electric SUV, previously unveiled at the Bharat Global Mobility Expo in Delhi last month, is now making its official debut in the Indian market.

Import Strategy: Initially introduced as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), the Enyaq’s manufacturing strategy may evolve based on consumer demand, potentially including local manufacturing.

MEB Platform: The SUV is built on Skoda Auto’s MEB platform, specifically developed for electric vehicles, emphasizing modern engineering and design philosophy.

Dimensions and Design: Boasting dimensions of 4,648 mm in length, 1,877 mm in width, and 1,618 mm in height, the Enyaq offers a spacious two-row seating configuration, distinct from Skoda’s Kodiaq SUV, ensuring enhanced comfort.

Premium Features: Equipped with high-end features, including an illuminated grille, LED headlamps, aero-inspired alloy wheels, Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), a 360-degree camera, digital screens for the instrument console and infotainment system, and leatherette upholstery.

Performance and Charging: Expected to launch in the Enyaq 80 variant, the SUV features a rear-mounted electric motor producing 282 bhp and 310 Nm, achieving 0-100 kmph in just 6.7 seconds. The 82 kWh battery pack offers a range of over 500 kms on a single charge, with fast-charging capability from 10% to 80% in 28 minutes.

Market Position and Price: Positioned in the premium segment with an expected starting price north of ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom), the Enyaq is set to compete with other electric vehicles such as the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5.
