Royal Enfield’s Mileage King: Classic 350 Introduces Fuel Flex Engine at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024

The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024, currently underway at Pragati Maidan in Delhi from February 1 to February 3, has brought forth exciting news in the world of motorcycles. Royal Enfield, the iconic motorcycle manufacturer, has unveiled its groundbreaking move towards sustainability with the introduction of the first-ever motorcycle running on fuel flex, the Classic 350.

The Classic 350, a popular model among biking enthusiasts, is now equipped with a Fuel Flex engine, allowing it to efficiently run on ethanol mixed petrol, commonly known as E20. This move is set to position Royal Enfield as a trailblazer in the transition towards more environmentally friendly and cost-effective fuel options.

The Flex Fuel engine in the Classic 350 boasts a 349cc single-cylinder engine, delivering a robust power of 20.2 bhp and a peak torque of 27Nm. With a 5-speed transmission, it shares its gearbox with other models from the Royal Enfield lineup, ensuring a seamless riding experience for enthusiasts.

The Classic 350 with Fuel Flex technology is available in vibrant red and green colors, further enhancing its appeal to consumers. The ex-showroom prices range from Rs 1.93 lakh to Rs 2.25 lakh, making it an attractive and competitive option in the market.

E20 Fuel: E20 fuel, a blend of 20% ethanol and 80% petrol, is the driving force behind the Classic 350’s enhanced efficiency. The cost-effectiveness of E20 becomes evident when compared to regular petrol prices. Calculating based on the current petrol price in Delhi at Rs 96 per liter, E20 petrol becomes a cost-saving alternative.

With 80% petrol at Rs 76.80 and ethanol priced at Rs 55 per liter, the 20% ethanol amounts to Rs 11. Therefore, the price of 1 liter of E20 petrol stands at Rs 87.80, providing a substantial saving of Rs 8.20 per liter compared to conventional petrol.

Implications and Future Possibilities: Royal Enfield’s foray into flex fuel technology with the Classic 350 opens up new possibilities for the company and the motorcycle industry at large. The introduction of cost-effective E20 fuel may set a precedent for other bike manufacturers to explore similar eco-friendly options in their models.

The move towards sustainability and innovation showcased by Royal Enfield reflects a commitment to addressing environmental concerns and aligning with the evolving demands of the automotive market.
