Ratan Tata’s Diwali Gift to the Common Man: Affordable Electric Car to Outshine Petrol Vehicles

Ratan Tata, the Honorary Chairman of Tata Sons, has once again demonstrated his commitment to meeting the needs of the common man. Under his visionary leadership, Tata Motors, a subsidiary of the Tata Group, has long been producing vehicles known for their durability, reliability, and affordability. This Diwali, Tata Motors has made a significant foray into the electric vehicle (EV) market, introducing a cost-effective electric car tailored to the budget of the average consumer.

The Tata Tiago EV: The EV for the Masses

The latest addition to Tata Motors’ lineup, the Tata Tiago EV, has been unveiled with an introductory ex-showroom price starting at INR 8.69 lakh, with the top model priced at INR 11.99 lakh.

With deliveries commencing before Diwali, Tata Motors ensures that customers can usher in the festive season with the joy of their new, environmentally friendly purchase.

Despite a modest price increase of approximately INR 20,000, the Tiago EV remains within the financial reach of the average buyer. It is available in four variants: XE, XT, XZ+, and XZ+ Lux, accommodating five passengers comfortably.

Battery Packs and Impressive Range

The Tiago EV offers two battery pack options: 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh. The electric motor’s power output is 61 PS with 104 Nm for the former and 75 PS with 114 Nm for the latter. The 19.2 kWh battery pack provides a commendable range of 250 kilometers, while the 24 kWh battery pack extends the range to a remarkable 315 kilometers.

Flexible Charging Solutions

This budget-friendly EV caters to diverse charging needs. It supports four charging options: a 15A socket charger, a 3.3 kW AC charger, a 7.2 kW AC charger, and DC fast charging. Charging efficiency is paramount – the 7.2 kW AC charger can fully charge the vehicle in just 3.5 hours, and the DC fast charger can boost the battery from 10 to 80 percent in a mere 57 minutes.

Elevated Comfort and Safety Features

The Tiago EV does not compromise on comfort and safety. It boasts a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a four-speaker Harman sound system, auto AC, foldable ORVMs, rain-sensing wipers, and steering-mounted controls. Furthermore, it is equipped with cruise control and regenerative braking. Safety remains a top priority, with dual front airbags, cornering brake control, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ABS with EBD, and a rearview camera.

Unrivaled Value

While the Tiago EV faces no direct competition, it emerges as an economical alternative to renowned models like the Citroen C3 EV.
