Nissan’s Electric Supercar Vision: The 1360hp Hyper Force Concept

Nissan, a pioneer in the electric vehicle (EV) revolution, has unveiled its electrifying vision for a next-generation high-performance supercar with the introduction of the Hyper Force Concept. Showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show, this concept car is setting the stage for the potential successor to the iconic GT-R, embracing electrification while preserving the spirit of Nissan’s performance heritage.

A New Dawn for the GT-R: The Hyper Force Concept represents Nissan’s commitment to the future of high-performance vehicles. While it shares little in common with the current GT-R’s design, there are subtle nods to the legendary Skyline lineage, evident in the front and rear headlight design. Nissan envisions a comprehensive range of vehicles, from compact EVs to high-performance cars, aligning with changing customer preferences and needs in the electric era.

Nissan’s Ambitious EV Strategy: Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida emphasized the company’s pioneering role in the EV landscape, stating, “We’re an EV pioneer, and this is what we want to do.” The brand acknowledges the evolving expectations of consumers and their changing perspectives on vehicles. The Hyper Force Concept, along with four other ‘Hyper’ models, embodies Nissan’s vision for the future. Uchida added, “All concepts, we’d like to deliver. We need the customers to agree.”

Design and Aerodynamics: The Hyper Force Concept boasts a lightweight carbon fiber body, providing agility and aerodynamic prowess. Collaborating with Nissan’s performance division, Nismo, the car’s aerodynamics deliver high downforce and cooling efficiency, ensuring enhanced handling on both circuits and winding roads. Carbon fiber wheels not only contribute to aerodynamic efficiency but also improve brake cooling.

Innovative Features: The concept incorporates advanced features, including a dual-level diffuser at the rear, active front winglets, fender slips, and rear wing ends. A plasma actuator enhances grip and minimizes inner-wheel lift during cornering. The interior offers two driving modes, R (racing) and GT (grand touring), with corresponding lighting, displays, and layout changes. In R mode, the interior panels move closer to the driver for a racing cockpit feel, while GT mode provides traditional infotainment displays.

Electrifying Power: The Hyper Force is a four-wheel-drive powerhouse, boasting an impressive 1360hp. Nissan’s E-Force all-wheel drive system is at the heart of the concept, although it remains a mystery whether the Hyper Force employs two or four motors. A significant technical highlight is the use of solid-state battery technology, promising smaller, lighter, and more power-dense batteries that charge rapidly. This development aligns with Nissan’s plan to have its pilot plant for solid-state battery production up and running by 2024, with mass production set for 2028.

The Hyper Force Concept exemplifies Nissan’s unwavering commitment to the electric future, marrying electrification with performance to create a vision of the next-generation supercar. As Nissan listens to customer feedback and looks forward to realizing its ambitious EV concepts, the automotive world eagerly anticipates the electrifying journey ahead.
