Nighttime Marvel: India’s First Glowing Mahindra Thar Stuns Auto Enthusiasts

The Mahindra Thar, one of India’s most popular 4×4 SUVs, has gained a reputation for its off-road capabilities and rugged appeal. Since its launch in 2020, the current-generation Thar has garnered a substantial waiting period and become a common sight among off-roading enthusiasts. Moreover, the Thar has become a canvas for customization, with enthusiasts creating unique and eye-catching modifications. In a remarkable transformation, a Mahindra Thar has been modified using Lumilor paint technology, making it glow in the dark. Witness the stunning results in this video.

The video, uploaded by Explore the Unseen 2.0 on their YouTube channel, showcases the incredible makeover of the Mahindra Thar. The owner of the SUV was inspired by videos from other countries where cars were painted with Lumilor paint, creating a mesmerizing glowing effect at night. Lumilor paint technology is known for its ability to illuminate surfaces with minimal power consumption and is even used on aircraft.

The transformation began with a meticulous design process to determine the pattern and areas to be painted with Lumilor. The front grille was replaced with a Wrangler-type unit, and the vertical slats were treated with Lumilor paint. The front caliper also received a similar treatment, featuring a section with embedded lighting. The side profile of the SUV received a captivating pattern resembling off-road tracks, while the owner’s YouTube channel name adorned the side of the bonnet.

The Lumilor paint application involves multiple layers, starting with the backplane, a highly conductive, low-resistance material that defines the lit areas on the car. The dielectric layer follows to prevent burning or short circuits and ensure uniform current distribution. The Lumicolor layer, painted under black light, determines the paint’s glow color. A busbar is then installed to improve current distribution, followed by a conductive top coat that allows Lumilor to emit light. A clear coat can be applied for a smooth finish.

The wiring for the lighting is discreetly concealed, with control buttons located inside the cabin. The final result is a breathtaking transformation, making this Mahindra Thar the first in India to feature Lumilor paint technology. Additionally, the owner enhanced the SUV’s appearance by painting the roof and claddings in glossy black, upgrading the bumper, and giving the ORVMs a carbon fiber finish.

This unique Mahindra Thar is turning heads on Indian roads, showcasing the limitless possibilities for customization and the ability to create a one-of-a-kind vehicle that truly stands out.
