Mercedes-Benz to Invest Rs 3,000 Crore in Maharashtra, Confirms State Minister

Mercedes-Benz Investment to Elevate Maharashtra’s Industrial Growth

German luxury car-maker Mercedes-Benz is set to invest Rs 3,000 crore in Maharashtra, according to a confirmation from Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Samant. The announcement followed a meeting between the minister and top executives of Mercedes-Benz, where they discussed investment opportunities in the state.

Job Creation and Industrial Growth

Minister Uday Samant highlighted that this significant investment would boost job opportunities and industrial growth in Maharashtra. In a social media post, he stated, “Had a meeting with the representative of Mercedes-Benz company while on tour to Germany today. Mercedes Benz is going to invest Rs 3,000 crore in Maharashtra this year. This will increase the number of jobs in Maharashtra along with industries. There was a discussion regarding this today.”

Meeting with Mercedes-Benz Executives

During his visit to Germany, Samant met with several key figures from Mercedes-Benz, including Dr. Jörg Berger, Director of Political Operations – External Affairs, Marina Krets, Director of Sales & Marketing, Region Overseas, and Martin Schulz, Executive Operations Head of Mercedes-Benz India, among others.

Political and Economic Implications

This development is seen as a boost for the Shiv Sena-BJP-NCP government ahead of the state assembly elections, countering opposition claims that Maharashtra is losing major projects to other states like Gujarat. The investment by Mercedes-Benz is expected to strengthen the state’s industrial sector and provide a much-needed economic uplift.

Collaboration with German Counterparts

The Maharashtra delegation, led by Samant, also engaged in discussions with their German counterparts to address the skilled labor gap. The minister mentioned that Maharashtra would support the German state of Baden-Württemberg in meeting their workforce needs. Efforts will be made to ensure a smooth transition for Maharashtra’s workers, equipping them with technical skills and basic German language proficiency for employment opportunities in German companies.

Support for Workforce Development

Samant and his delegation met with Winfried Kretschmann, Minister-President of Baden-Württemberg, along with other German ministers, to discuss strategies for workforce development. These discussions aim to facilitate employment opportunities for Maharashtrian workers in Germany and strengthen bilateral ties between Maharashtra and Baden-Württemberg.
